City of Farmington to resurface Shiawassee Road
The section of Shiawassee Road between two portions of Farmington Road is scheduled to be repaired later this season.
In July, Consumers Energy conducted an emergency gas line repair/replacement on Shiawassee Road between the Rouge River and Warner Street due to a natural gas leak. A significant area of Shiawassee Road was excavated attempting to locate the gas leak. Consumers Energy plans to repair the portion of the road that was damaged.
The roadway adjacent to the repaired section is also in poor condition, so City Administration recommended extending the resurfacing project to include the whole segment of the road, which is the portion between Farmington Road and Farmington Road. City Council unanimously agreed at its August 18 meeting.
“This is a more efficient and comprehensive solution,” said DPW Superintendent Chuck Eudy, “and this will improve the road’s durability.”
