Farmington Debuts Two New Outdoor Fitness Courts in Partnership with Priority Health and National Fitness Campaign
The City of Farmington, in collaboration with Priority Health and the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), is excited to announce the opening of two new outdoor Fitness Courts. Located in Shiawassee and Flanders Parks, these free, open-air gyms provide a full-body workout system designed for all fitness levels.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Aug.12 at the Shiawassee Park location to celebrate the new addition. The event featured a fitness demonstration by several local gym owners and community groups, including Bodhi Yoga, TRVFIT Farmington, Five Lakes CrossFit, the Farmington Fire Department, and the City Council/Run Club.
The Shiawassee Park location will become the first Fitness Court® in Michigan with the studio addition specially designed for group fitness classes separate from the individual work-out section.
This community-focused initiative was made possible through a strong partnership between the City of Farmington, Oakland County Parks, Priority Health, and the NFC. The NFC is a nationwide nonprofit organization that provides free-to-the-community fitness courts and programming to help expand access to outdoor exercise.
"We're thrilled to offer these new resources to our residents," said Farmington Mayor Joe LaRussa. "The Fitness Courts are a great way to promote health and wellness in our community, providing a free and accessible option for everyone to get active outdoors."
The Fitness Courts are now open to the public at both Shiawassee Park and Flanders Park.
