Frank and his two high school buddies decided to sign-up to serve our great country. At the age of 18 and not yet graduated from high school, Frank joined the Marines, April 10, 1943. After Frank was discharged, he was award his high school diploma.
 
Frank's parents were immigrants from Sicily. All four of Frank's brothers were in the military at the same time. His parents had 5 stars in their window. They served in three branches of the military: the Army, the Air Force, and the Marines.  Unfortunately, his brother Tom's plane crashed in the side of a mountain in Italy.
 
Frank participated in action against the enemy at: Peleliu, Palau Island September 15, 1944 thru October 14, 1944; Okinawa, Ryukyi Island April 1,1945 thru June 21, 1945. Frank also
participated in the occupation of China October 30, 1945 thru February 7, 1946.
 
Private First Class Marino was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon; the Presidential Unit Citation; the China Service Medal; the American Campaign Medal 2B*; the WW11Victory Medal;the Navy Occupation Service Medal Asia; the Honorable Discharge Button; and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin. Frank was discharged April 1946.
 
Frank had nine children. He worked at his brother's (Chuck) shop, Exotic Rubber and Plastics (currently named Exotic Automation and Supply) in Farmington from 1970 until 2010. He
moved to Farmington in 1978 and lived there until 2015. He passed away in January 2017 at the age of 91, 2 months shy of his 92nd birthday.
 
As Dad always told us (when he should not have been doing something), Once a Marine, always a Marine.
